How does IngenuityFest leverage social media?

Over the past few years, Insivia has been the web design firm driving the Ingenuity Fest website. For the uninitiated, Ingenuity Fest is a unique, weekend-long event celebrating art and technology. (This year’s festival is July 10-12 in downtown Cleveland.)

If you check out this year’s site, you’ll see the big focus on social media sharing. Ingenuity Festival and social media were a perfect fit and here are some of the ways we brought social media to the site:

Twitter

Integrated in three major ways this year to gain followers, share experiences and distribute content.

The first is on the home page; you instantly get @IngenuityFest latest status message with a link to see more and follow.

Second, on various pages throughout the site there is a feed of tweets that display any mentions of the festival on Twitter. This is great because people can see real-time opinions and praise for the festival. By the way, during the festival we better see you tweet ” I’m @IngenuityFest “!

The third was a simple sharing option on all pages that once clicked would automatically send someone to twitter with a status message pre-filled with the page’s info and link.

Facebook

A simple integration to give people a prominent call to action on the homepage to become a friend. Also, all pages including a simple link to help people share that page on their facebook.

Social Media Sharing

Prominent on each page and article allowing people to simply share and promote ingenuity no matter where they are on the site and to a mass of social media outlets.

YouTube

The simplest integration, but done in a cool way. A button on the home page banner brings down the lights and shows you a sneak peek of the festival through video.

Flickr

Will be involved during the festival to allow visitors to upload photos as well as ingenuity staff.
